Switch Missing pets?

We started a new farm (local co-op) and on top of the usual bugs I've seen listed by others, about halfway through spring we noticed our cat despawned. He doesn't appear in our houses and his water bowl doesn't ever empty. Has anyone else seen this?

I'm going to try moving the pet bowl around to see if that works? Longshot though. Fingers crossed for a big console patch soon!!!

Nintendo Switch... Multiplayer with my wife: Same issue. Our dog, with maxed-out hearts, simply just disappeared in the Fall! I spent a large part of a Stardew day looking for him. It's like he never existed with nothing but a now abandoned water dish. Alas! Is there any way to get him back?

I'm hoping there may be, moving the bowl doesn't do anything. You can adopt pets from Marnie after Year 2 but idk if that's only if you have max hearts

Same issue in our case. Our cat with max hearts disappeard and is also not listed in the animals list anymore. Only the water bowl is still there which won't be emptied anymore.

Console: Switch
Version: 1.6.9.37
In-game language: German
Local split-screen multiplayer (two players)

A save file can probably not be fetched from the Nintendo-Switch right?
Hopefully this issue will be patched soon as this is very frustrating and makes the game much less fun.

Also noticed my cat is gone.
It's not in my pet tab anymore even.

Sometimes I play alone, sometimes split screen or local coop with my grandson. If I am on big tv we split screen if on little tv he found from his lite.

When his toon got married is when it poofed I believe. It used to be on his bed or mine when we went to sleep. Today I went to pet tab after noticing it hasn't been seen in a bit and it's not there.

We may restart because the pet is based off our real cat who passed away this year at 11 yrs old. Grandson is almost 5 and it was helping him with his missing the cat that was always there for him then suddenly not.
